We Build Champions For Everyday Life
"Building Champions for Everyday Life" means giving the gymnasts opportunities to learn skills (not just tricks) that make them better individuals in their school, community, family and friendships outside of the gym. I firmly believe that gymnastics is an activity that is foundational to all movement at all ages and stages and physical abilities. Gymnastics helped me overcome some significant physical frailty and muscle weakness when as a 4-year old I was diagnosed as a failure to thrive, and throughout my school years also played an important role in developing many long term life skills like self discipline, time management, goal setting and overcoming challenges.
Our motto, to me, means that we are not only excelling in the gym, but also as people. That means trying your best in the gym, at school, at home, and wherever else you may go; learning this at Atlantic at such a young age has allowed me to carry it throughout my future endeavors.
Our motto holds a very special meaning for me. As someone who grew up in the program, I truly feel that Atlantic Gymnastics has played a large part in building me into the person I am today and for that, I am eternally grateful. We are given the great privilege and responsibility as coaches to help mentor and guide our gymnasts; not just in gymnastics, but in so many other aspects of life. Everyday, I get to help and watch kids grow into strong, positive, responsible, well rounded individuals within our four walls. Our philosophy and culture at Atlantic has helped build a large, tight-knit family where every athlete, past and present, knows they have a forever home. It is a program I feel very blessed and fortunate to be a continued part of.
I've had the privilege of watching many students come through these doors and whether they are in our peschool program or on our team, we strive to teach our kids so much more than gymnastics. Patience, kindness, respect, confidence, so many things. We are hoping to help build our students up so they can leave here being better little humans.
"Building Champions for Everyday Life" is saying that every day everyone finds new obstacles they come across. Every day brings a new day with endless possibilities that can come forwards.
"Our motto means to me, worded differently, Building great human beings for everyday life. "
The sign on the outside of our building says,”Building Champions for Everyday Life”. Gymnastics participation can be an experience that molds and shapes someone into a person of great work ethic and character. I was lucky enough to be exposed to the sport at a young age and it has given me the opportunity to meet people all over the world to give back in a way that gives my life value. Atlantic Gymnastics provides this same opportunity for so many people, and I am lucky to have the opportunity to lead the staff and the gymnasts at Atlantic Gymnastics in this positive culture.
These two are the reason we are all here!!
Tony and Stephanie met while attending school at UNH. Both had been gymnasts and were involved in the gymnastics community. After years of coaching for others they decided to take a leap and open up their own gym. The rest is history. When they opened up Atlantic in 1994, Tony and Stephanie wanted to create a place where children could be the best they could be.
After many years and many gymnasts they are still committed to their core values of what they set out to do!
"If they wanted to take one class a week and learn some simple skills, we could do that. If they wanted to compete INTERNATIONALLY, we could do that too. What was important to us was that they recognize that they were learning WAY MORE than just gymnastics. Since opening, we have had hundreds of National competitors, a handful of International competitors and tens of thousands of recreational gymnasts. When I think of my successes- I do not think of just the National and International champions. I think of the now Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Military officers, who have come through the facility."
